You Can Sit With Us
Your awareness is being hijacked.
Every scroll, every notification, every ping before you’ve even opened your eyes properly. Your attention is the most valuable thing you have, and right now, most of it is being sold.
This is an invitation to take it back.
A teaching on awareness
In Kashmir Shaivism — the non-dual tantric tradition this practice draws from — awareness (citi) is not something you have. It’s what you are. Everything else — thoughts, sensations, the world itself — is described as a kind of vibration (spanda) arising within that awareness, the way waves arise within the ocean without ever being separate from it.
The tradition doesn’t ask you to escape the world to find this. It asks you to notice what’s already looking.
What we call “distraction” is really just awareness getting identified with its own contents — mistaking the wave for the ocean. Every notification, every scroll, every reactive thought is a small act of forgetting: awareness collapsing into what it’s aware of, instead of resting as the one who’s aware.
The tantric texts were addressing it a thousand years ago, long before phones — the mind has always had a pull toward its objects. What’s changed is the sheer volume of objects now competing for that pull, engineered specifically to capture it.
The practice, then, isn’t really about calming the mind or emptying it of thought. It’s about recognising — again and again, one breath, one sit at a time — that you were never only the wave. You are what the wave arises in.
A Wednesday Morning Meditation Group
Every Wednesday, before the world gets going, we sit together — 40 minutes, on Zoom, 6:30am. No phone in hand. No algorithm deciding what you notice next. Just you, arriving into your own awareness, before anyone else has a claim on it.
Are you neuro-spicy? No problem. This space is built to hold however your mind moves — whether it wanders, races, resists stillness, or needs a different way in. There’s no “right” way to sit.
What’s included
- Every Wednesday sit — 6:30am, 40 minutes, live on Zoom
- One monthly discussion session — technique, questions, what’s arising in your practice, and space to hear how others are navigating theirs
